Krazy Stitcher — Pattern Maker

v1.4.65 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Archive wording now matches what Archive does. The Archive button’s tooltip, the first prompt and the Help text still said Archive removes your pattern as soon as it downloads. They now say that Archive downloads the .ksp package, asks you to check that it is in your Downloads folder, and removes the pattern only when you click OK (Cancel keeps it).
v1.4.64 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Drawing no longer jumps across your chart. If you dragged the pointer off the chart while drawing or erasing and came back in somewhere else, a straight line was drawn between the two places. Now only the cells under the pointer change.
  • Archive keeps your pattern until you confirm the file saved. Before, the pattern was removed from your browser as soon as the .ksp download started, so a download that failed lost it. Now you are asked to check that the file is in your Downloads folder, and the pattern stays if you say it is not. The download link also stays valid for a minute instead of being cancelled at once.
v1.4.63 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Duplicate keeps your Bead Shape. A copy made with Duplicate now keeps the pattern’s bead shape. Before, the copy came back square.
v1.4.62 October 13, 2026

New

  • Bead Shape. Draw every bead on your chart in the shape of your real beads instead of a square. Open it from Tools → Bead Shape and choose Match my beads (for example 11/0 Miyuki Delica). The program picks which way the holes run for your stitch, or you can choose. Your design and bead counts do not change.
  • The shape is used on screen and in PDF and printed charts, PNG and Hi-Res PNG pictures, and the 3D preview.
  • Finished Size agrees with your chart. With a bead shape on, Finished Size counts each bead the way the chart draws it, and a note says so. Bead Shape changes can be undone with Undo or Ctrl+Z.
  • Never forgotten: a Bead shape label appears at the bottom of the screen whenever a pattern is not square, a message tells you when a new pattern picks up a saved shape, and Reset to Square puts everything back in one click.
v1.4.61 October 13, 2026

Improved

  • Drawing keeps up on big patterns. The chart redraws about twice as fast, and drawing or erasing no longer queues up and then changes the grid all at once after you stop.

Fixed

  • A quick Draw or Erase stroke no longer leaves gaps between beads.
v1.4.60 October 13, 2026

New

  • Your license, in About. About now shows your edition and the last 4 characters of your license key, with a Copy key button — handy when you set up Krazy Stitcher on a new computer.
v1.4.59 October 13, 2026

Improved

  • Help now explains moving to a new computer. Open ? Help and look under Tips: make a Backup All file on the old computer, copy it over, and click Restore on the new one. Single .ksp or .ks patterns open with Load File.
  • Help now says where .ksp files go (wherever your browser saves downloads, usually your Downloads folder).
  • Help now covers an out-of-date app. If the app looks old or shows no place to enter your license key, add ?v=2 to the end of the address (for example KrazyStitcher.html?v=2) and press Enter.

Fixed

  • Browsers that kept an older saved copy of the app now pick up this version on the next visit.
v1.4.58 October 11, 2026

Improved

  • Opening shared patterns is safer. Pattern files, backups and saved data are now checked when they open. Anything that cannot be used is left out, and a short message tells you what was skipped. Your own patterns open exactly as before.
  • License keys are checked with the license server. If the server cannot be reached, you now see “Could not reach the license server” instead of being told your key is invalid.
  • Space and Enter work on every button. Starter-pattern cards, symbol swatches and similar buttons respond to the keyboard, and Tab now stays inside an open window until you close it.

Fixed

  • Your 60-day trial now ends on day 60 on every page. In some places it used to end a day later.
  • Pro stitch types unlock as soon as you enter a license key, with no need to reload the page.
  • Resizing a pattern that has layers now resizes the layers too.
v1.4.57 October 11, 2026

New

  • Choose black symbols instead of white. Some stitchers find white symbols overpower the bead color. In the Symbols box (open it with the Symbols button) the new “Symbol color on color charts” setting offers three choices: black or white, whichever reads best (as before, and still the default); black, with gray on the very darkest beads so their symbol can still be read; or black only, where a black bead shows as a solid square. It applies to the screen, the color swatches, and color PDF, PNG and printed charts, and it is remembered on this computer. The black-and-white chart is unchanged.
v1.4.56 October 11, 2026

Improved

  • Dialogs take the keyboard with them. When a window opens, keyboard focus moves into it; when it closes, focus returns to the button you used. One-letter shortcuts no longer change the tool behind an open window.
  • Space and Enter press the button you are on. Space used to switch to the Pan tool even when a button had focus.
  • Turn the one-letter shortcuts off. Open Help and untick “Single-key shortcuts” if letters you type or dictate change tools by accident. Ctrl shortcuts, Escape and the arrow keys keep working. The setting is remembered.
v1.4.55 October 10, 2026

Improved

  • The chart on screen now looks like the printed chart. Beads fill their whole cell in full color, the grid is a thin dark line instead of light gaps, and each symbol sits directly on its colored cell: black on light colors, white on dark ones. The light circles behind symbols on dark colors (added in the last update) are gone because they hid the color of those cells. Symbols are also a little larger.
  • Clearer black or white symbols on mid-tone colors. The program now picks black or white for each symbol by which one stands out more against that bead, instead of a simple light/dark cutoff. About 7 in 100 palette colors, all in the middle shades such as teals and medium blues, now get a black symbol where white was hard to read. This applies on the chart, in the color lists, and in PDFs and printouts, so the screen and the paper match.
  • Highlight keeps the other colors visible. When you highlight one symbol, the other cells are now only lightly faded, so you can still see their colors and symbols while the chosen symbol keeps its pink ring.
  • Small arrow pointer for the 1 Cell tool. The large plus-sign pointer is replaced by a small upward arrow while the 1 Cell tool is on. The other tools keep their pointer.
  • The setting "Black symbols on dark colors" has been removed, since the circles it controlled are gone. Printing and PDFs are unchanged.
  • A “Report any problem” link on every page. If something is hard to use, or does not work with your keyboard, screen reader or other assistive tool, the link at the bottom of the page takes you to our new Accessibility page, which says what works today, what does not work well yet, and how to reach us. We reply within ten business days.
v1.4.54 October 10, 2026

New

  • Change just one cell. Right-click any cell on the chart, or hold Alt and click it, or choose the new 1 Cell (the pencil with a small 1) tool and click it. A small window lists the colors already in your pattern with their symbols. Pick one and only that cell changes; Undo takes it back. You can also press a symbol’s key (A, 7, @) to choose it, or choose Empty this cell. A right-click no longer paints a cell by accident.
  • Highlight one symbol. Under Used in Pattern, tick Highlight the chosen symbol on the chart, then click a symbol there (or use the Pick tool on the chart). Every other color fades and each cell of the chosen symbol gets a pink ring, so you can see where it is used without hunting for it.

Improved

  • Black symbols on dark colors. Symbols on dark beads used to be white and hard to follow. They are now black on a small light disc. If you prefer the old look, untick Black symbols on dark colors in the Symbols window (Base) or the Bead Count window (Pro and Studio).
  • The every-10 lines show on screen. The heavier line after every tenth row and column was a pale blue-gray that nearly vanished. It is now a dark line with a light edge, so the 10 x 10 blocks stand out over any bead color. The printed PDF is unchanged.
v1.4.53 October 10, 2026

New

  • Easy to read symbols. Each pattern can now use numbers, letters and keyboard symbols (1, A, @, g and so on) instead of small pictures, which many beaders find quicker to follow while stitching. Pick the style for a pattern with Symbols for this pattern in the Symbols window, or in the small symbol window you open from a color’s symbol square. The clearest symbols are used first (1 2 3 4 5 7 8 10, letters that are hard to confuse, and keyboard symbols such as @ # $ & ( ) / + ?). Letters and numbers that can be mistaken for each other when you turn a chart (such as 6 and 9, or b and q) come later, then the shapes, so a pattern with many colors still gets a different symbol for every color. There are 196 symbols in all.
  • New patterns still start with Classic shapes. To start every new pattern with Easy to read, tick Use Easy to read symbols for new patterns in the same place. Patterns you already have do not change.
  • The symbol window now groups the symbols (Numbers, Capital letters, Small letters, Keyboard symbols, Shapes), scrolls when it is taller than your screen, and shows the style choice at the top.
  • Easy to read symbols are used everywhere symbols appear: the chart, the color list, the Bead Count window, the PDF, and the PNG pictures. Switching a pattern’s style resets symbols you picked by hand for it, and Undo brings them back. A pattern with Easy to read symbols opened in an older version shows the Classic shapes instead.
v1.4.52 October 10, 2026

Fixed

  • Import Photo: changing Max Width now updates the preview. Before, the box could say 150 while the preview was still showing an earlier, smaller conversion. The preview now refreshes when you press Enter or click away from the box, and Import stays off until it has caught up so you never import an out-of-date preview.
v1.4.51 October 8, 2026

Improved

  • The dark theme now has this edition’s soft green tint instead of plain blue-gray (same brightness and contrast as before).
v1.4.50 October 8, 2026

Improved

  • The “no backup on file” reminder is now a small card near the bottom of the screen instead of a red bar across the top, so it no longer covers the toolbar. It has two buttons, “Back up now” and “Dismiss”, and Esc closes it. It still shows once per visit, and only when you have saved patterns and have not backed up for 14 days.
  • Easier to read: the “Krazy Stitcher” title and the Undo label now have stronger contrast against the background.
  • The toolbar is now three tidy menus, File, Edit and Tools, on every screen size. Each menu is split into labeled groups (for example Tools has Color, Measure, Pattern, Stitching, Print and view, and Help and settings), so you can find a button without reading a list of 45.
  • The menus work from the keyboard: Down Arrow opens a menu and moves through it, Home and End jump to the first and last item, and Esc closes it and puts you back on the menu button. Choosing an item closes the menu.
  • Every button is still there and does the same thing. Only where it lives changed. Buttons your edition does not include are still shown with a lock, as before.
v1.4.48 October 8, 2026

Improved

  • Printed PDF charts: the thin grid lines are darker, so they are easier to see, while the bold line on every 10th row and column still stands out.
  • The editing screen now has a soft mint color scheme, so Base is easy to tell apart from Pro and Studio.
  • Backup All now reminds you to use Restore to bring a backup file back, and the Restore button explains that a .ksbackup file is opened there, not by another program.
v1.4.47 October 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The Shift+R keyboard shortcut now selects the Filled Rect tool, as the guides say. Before, pressing Shift+R did nothing.
v1.4.46 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Undo button (and Ctrl+Z) now takes back symbol changes, including a swap with another color and “Reset to Default” in the Symbols window. Redo brings them back. A swap of two colors is one step.
v1.4.45 October 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The “Symbols” button in the Tools menu now works. It opens a window listing every color in the open pattern with its symbol. Click a symbol square to choose a different one, or press “Reset to Default” to give every color its automatic symbol again. Your choices belong to that pattern only.
v1.4.44 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Bead Count window now says “Click a symbol to choose a different one for that color,” so the symbol picker is easier to find.
v1.4.43 October 7, 2026

New

  • Choose your own symbol for any color. Click the symbol square in the Bead Count table, or right-click a color in “Used in Pattern” (or press Shift+Enter on it), then pick a symbol from the grid. If another color already uses it, the two swap, so no two colors ever share a symbol. “Automatic” goes back to the standard symbol.
  • Your symbol choices are saved with the pattern and show on the chart, the swatches, the Bead Count table and every printed or exported chart.
v1.4.42 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • Patterns can now use up to 118 different symbols before any repeat (it was 49), so large color counts are easier to follow on the chart, the swatches, and the printed PDF.
  • Symbols are now drawn from one built-in symbol font, so they look the same on screen, in the PNG export and in the printed PDF on every computer.
  • Three little-used symbols (a crosshair, a curved line and a half-circle outline) were replaced by clearer shapes. Existing patterns keep all their other symbols.
v1.4.41 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Colors “Used in Pattern” block now shows each color’s pattern symbol on its swatch instead of a number, so it is quick to match a color to the chart while editing. Hover a swatch to see its name and bead count.
  • The Bead Count table shows the symbol on each color square too.
  • Printed PDF charts: the thin grid lines are darker, and every 10th row and column has a bold black line, so the 10 × 10 groups stand out.
  • Printed PDF color key: long bead names no longer run into the next column. The key now fits the page, and a very long name ends with ….
v1.4.40 October 6, 2026

Fixed

  • Keyboard focus is now easier to see: a deep blue ring in light mode and a gold ring in dark mode.
  • Control borders and dividers are a little stronger so buttons and fields stand out more clearly.
  • In dark mode, pressed and selected buttons use dark text for better readability.
  • Large patterns pan and zoom more smoothly, and memory use is lower when undoing on very large patterns.
v1.4.39 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
v1.4.38 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
v1.4.37 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
v1.4.36 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features: the app can now read and check a published bead-matching data set. Nothing you see changes.
v1.4.35 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Duplicating a pattern now keeps any bead-brand information saved with it, and pattern files and backups with that information load safely. Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features; nothing else changes.
v1.4.34 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the matching logic for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
v1.4.33 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared bead-grid resizing routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
v1.4.32 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared rating routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
v1.4.31 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: Palette Remap now uses a shared color-swapping routine that will also power future features. Remap itself should look and work exactly as before.
v1.4.30 October 3, 2026

Added

  • Bead palettes for Miyuki Rocailles (238 colors), Matsuno (126) and Mill Hill (115). These three brands are no longer “coming soon” in the palette and Remap lists. Toho Aiko and Toho Treasure are still to come.

Improved

  • Toho Round now lists 412 colors with the real Toho numbers (TR-11-nn) and Preciosa 253 colors. Miyuki Delica colors are refreshed for 446 beads. These colors are estimated from supplier photos, so check them against your beads before you buy.
v1.4.29 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: backups, restores, auto-snapshots, saving, and the About and Help version displays now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
v1.4.28 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: creating, duplicating, importing, restoring, archiving and exporting patterns now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
v1.4.27 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the pattern list, switching and deleting patterns, version snapshots, PDF export and pattern archiving now share one code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
v1.4.26 October 2, 2026

Fixed

  • Five bead brands in the Palette Remap and palette-brand lists — Miyuki Rocailles, Matsuno, Mill Hill, Toho Aiko and Toho Treasure — had no color data and quietly gave you the Generic 64 palette instead. They are now greyed out and marked “coming soon”, and Remap will not run on them.
v1.4.25 October 2, 2026

Fixed

  • Shaped Peyote now shows its half-bead row offset in the 3D preview, like regular Peyote.
  • The “Bug report sent — thank you!” confirmation now appears after you send a report.

Added

  • Locked previews of three Pro and Studio features — Live Symmetric Drawing, Version History (Enhanced Backup) and Shaped Pattern Templates — so you can see what upgrading adds. They are greyed out and listed in “Unlock more”.
v1.4.24 September 30, 2026

Fixed

  • The Help panel's stitch list now includes Shaped Peyote and Ndebele, which were already available in the stitch-type menu.
v1.4.23 September 30, 2026

Fixed

  • The About window and the website now say Base has 22 stitch types, which is what Base actually lets you create. Ladder Stitch and Albion Stitch need Pro or Studio.
v1.4.22 September 29, 2026

Fixed

  • The Help panel no longer says Cleanup is Pro/Studio-only — it's been unlocked for everyone since v1.4.18, and the documentation just hadn't caught up.
v1.4.21 September 29, 2026

New

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+B anywhere in the app to report a bug or request a feature — a quick form with an optional screenshot, sent straight to us.
v1.4.20 September 29, 2026

Interface

  • The dark/light mode toggle now shows a text label ("Dark"/"Light") next to its icon, matching Pro and Studio.
v1.4.19 September 28, 2026

Accessibility

  • The Palette and Tools panel toggles (shown on narrower screens) now announce whether the panel is open or closed to screen readers, not just visually.
  • The clear-trace button and the Help panel's close button now have real, readable names for screen readers instead of just a symbol.
v1.4.18 September 28, 2026

Changed

  • Cleanup is now included in Base. Recolor, Merge, and Cleanup used to be bundled behind one Pro upgrade. Cleanup (removing stray "confetti" beads left over from a photo import) is now free in Base; Recolor and Merge remain Pro and Studio features.
v1.4.17 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Low-contrast green text. The green used for "License activated," inventory "OK" status, tier badges, and the Buy button was too light to read reliably (measured under 3:1 against a 4.5:1 target) — darkened for clear, readable contrast.

Accessibility

  • Part of a WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility pass across all three tiers — see Pro 3.5.21 / Studio 3.6.21 for the full set of fixes (keyboard trap on full-screen splash, unreachable license-gate Buy links, Studio tab screen-reader state).
v1.4.16 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Help panel now labels Pro/Studio-only features. The Text tool, Recolor, Merge, and Cleanup are marked "(Pro and Studio only)" in Help instead of being described as available to everyone.
  • "Layers" help section updated. Now mentions that Studio offers an optional multi-layer system, instead of saying layers don't exist at all.
  • Pan tool help text corrected to describe continuous drag-to-scroll panning, matching the 1.4.15 fix.
v1.4.15 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Pan tool would stop working after one drag. Clicking the Pan tool and dragging the canvas worked once, then silently switched back to whatever tool was active before — so the next drag did nothing and the view looked stuck. Panning now keeps working for as many drags as you like until you pick a different tool.
v1.4.14 September 26, 2026

Fixed

  • Row/column number labels could get clipped. The pattern is now anchored with a small reserved margin for the row/column labels instead of being centered with no room for them, so the labels stay fully on-screen.

Added

  • B&W Chart Mode. A new toggle next to Grid/Symbols shows the pattern as a clean white-cells-with-black-symbols working chart — the standard printed layout, now available live on screen.
  • Bead-count badges. Each color swatch under "Used in Pattern" now shows how many beads use that color, sorted highest-count first.
v1.4.13 September 24, 2026

Fixed

  • Clear picture at 0% grid opacity. When Opacity is 0 or the grid is off, the pattern now shows as one clean image with no light lines between beads.
v1.4.12 September 23, 2026

Changed

  • The 60-day free trial now grants Base-tier access only — it no longer unlocks Pro or Studio features during the trial period. A licensed Pro or Studio key is unaffected.
  • Locked Pro/Studio features are now shown greyed-out instead of hidden — toolbar buttons for features above your current tier stay visible with a lock icon and an "Upgrade to unlock" tooltip, so you can see what's available rather than wondering if a feature exists.
v1.4.11 September 21, 2026

Fixed

  • Backup All, Restore, and Split & Recompose could fail to respond when clicked. A behind-the-scenes wiring gap meant these three buttons could throw an error instead of running. All three now work correctly.
v1.4.10 September 20, 2026

Fixed

  • First-time welcome screen could be missed. On a brand-new install, a timing issue between the welcome/onboarding screen and the trial/license setup screen could occasionally cause the welcome screen to never appear. Onboarding now always shows, either right away or right after you finish choosing a trial or entering a license key.
v1.4.9 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Welcome screen now offers 6 starter projects (Bracelet, Earrings, Pendant, Bookmark, Free Draw, Wall Art) to jump-start your first pattern, matching Pro and Studio's onboarding -- pick one and start stitching immediately.
v1.4.8 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Auto-Optimize Settings — a new button in the Import Photo dialog that looks at your photo and picks a starting Max Colors and dithering setting for you: photographic images get smoothed with dithering, flat graphics/logos get a clean color-block look with none. Everything it sets is still a normal control afterward, so you can fine-tune from there.
v1.4.7 September 19, 2026

Changed

  • Added a mention of the new Krazy Stitcher Companion pattern reader to the Share Pattern help text, so it's easy to find if you want to follow a pattern on your phone while stitching.
v1.4.6 September 19, 2026

New

  • The Share Pattern dialog now has an option to protect your pattern with a password. Turn it on and set a password, and anyone who receives the file will need that password to open and edit it in Krazy Stitcher -- great for sellers who want buyers to be able to view, print, and stitch a pattern without being able to reopen and resell the file itself. The included PNG and PDF previews stay viewable either way.
v1.4.5 September 19, 2026

Improved

  • PDF exports now use the same, more reliable export process for both the quick "Export PDF" button and the Print dialog's custom export, so improvements to one always apply to the other.
  • Stitch symbols in exported PDFs are sharper and more consistent across all three Color Mode options (Full Color, Symbols Over Color, and Black & White Symbols Only).
v1.4.4 September 19, 2026

New

  • Added an Opacity slider next to the Grid checkbox, so you can fade the grid lines to see your bead colors more clearly while still keeping a reference grid.

Fixes

  • The About button no longer disappears on narrower browser windows. If you ever can't find it, the app title in the top left always opens the same screen.
v1.4.3 September 18, 2026

Fixes

  • Closed a gap in the first-run welcome screen where pressing Escape or clicking outside the window let you skip choosing a free trial or entering a license key entirely, with no trial ever starting and no key ever required. The welcome screen now stays open until you make a choice.
  • Fixed the "Start a Free 60-Day Trial" button on that same welcome screen, which was not responding to clicks.
v1.4.2 September 18, 2026

Changed

  • Undo and Redo toolbar buttons are now icon-only, matching every other button in the toolbar. Tooltips are unchanged, and each button keeps a proper accessible label for screen readers.
v1.4.1 September 18, 2026

Fixes

  • Fixed the Undo and Redo toolbar buttons displaying with oversized text labels that overflowed past the left edge of the window, showing only a clipped sliver of each word. The labels now render correctly at a small caption size beneath their icons, matching Pro and Studio.
v2.1 August 23, 2026

New Features

  • Drag-and-Drop Image Import — Drag any image from Finder, Photos, iCloud Drive, a USB drive, or a shared network drive directly onto the canvas. The Import Photo dialog opens automatically with your image pre-loaded. A visual “Drop image to import” overlay appears during drag.
  • Clipboard Paste Import — Copy an image or take a screenshot (Cmd+Shift+4 on Mac), then press Cmd+V / Ctrl+V. The image loads straight into the Import Photo dialog. Works with screenshots, images copied from Preview, Photos, or any other app.
  • Modal Drop Zone — The Import Photo dialog now features a styled drop zone (“Drop image here or click to browse”) replacing the old bare file input. Drag images directly into the dialog or click to open the system file picker.

Improvements

  • Empty canvas now shows helpful text: “Drop an image, paste from clipboard, or click Import Photo” with guidance about dragging from Finder and Photos.
  • Whole-page drag detection — dragging an image anywhere over the app window triggers the drop overlay, not just over the canvas area.

Documentation

  • Help Panel — Photo Import section rewritten to cover all four import methods (drag-and-drop, clipboard paste, Import Photo button, drop into dialog). Added tips about Max Colors behavior and post-import cleanup workflow.
  • User Manual — Photo Import chapter expanded with a “Loading an Image” methods table and Mac-specific guidance for iCloud Drive, network shares, and external drives.
  • Troubleshooting — Five new entries: “Fewer colors than requested,” “White dots after import,” “Grid lines obscure pattern,” “Hard to compare to original,” and “Can’t load from iCloud/network drive.”

Technical

  • New loadImageIntoImport() function bridges all import methods into the existing photo conversion pipeline
  • Canvas-wrap dragenter/dragover/dragleave/drop event handlers with drag counter for reliable overlay show/hide
  • Document-level paste listener filters for image clipboard items; skips when input/textarea is focused
  • Body-level drag handlers prevent browser default file-open behavior
  • Uses DataTransfer API to programmatically set the file input, maintaining compatibility with the existing photoFileChanged() flow
v2.0 August 21, 2026

New Features

  • OXS File Import — Import patterns from cross-stitch software that exports in the Open Cross Stitch (OXS) format by Ursa Software. Full stitches, part stitches, and bead/knot ornaments are parsed from the XML and mapped to the Krazy Stitcher grid. Palette index 0 (cloth/background color) is skipped. Imported patterns open as loom type. Uses client-side DOMParser — no server required.
  • Commercial Use Licensing — Pro and Studio tiers now include built-in commercial use rights. Pro users can sell finished crafts and individual patterns. Studio users can additionally sell pattern collections, books, and distribute in bulk. No royalties, no recurring fees. Rights never expire.

New Pages

  • Commercial Use License — 10-section legal agreement covering commercial rights by tier, IP ownership (your patterns are yours), and governing law (State of Illinois).
  • Own Your Tools — Article comparing Krazy Stitcher’s one-time pricing to SaaS subscription models, with 3-year cost breakdowns and feature comparisons. Explains SaaS to non-technical readers.
  • Version Log — This page.

Reference Charts (PDF)

  • DMC-to-Delica cross-reference charts — Option B, Option C, Option C Chart, Expert Review, Hybrid, and master Reference
  • Mill Hill to Miyuki Delica cross-reference chart
  • Perler to Hama cross-reference chart
  • TOHO to Miyuki cross-reference chart
  • Artkal to Perler cross-reference chart

Technical

  • File input now accepts .ks, .json, .ksp, .zip, and .oxs
  • New loadOxsFile() function (~100 lines) handles OXS XML parsing and calls validateAndImportPattern()
v1.1 August 2026

New Features

Krazy Stitcher Companion

v1.0.0 September 19, 2026

New

  • First release. A standalone, phone-friendly pattern reader ("KrazyStitcher-Companion.html") for stitching away from your computer. Open a .ks or .ksp file exported from any Krazy Stitcher edition and follow it row by row: current row highlighted on the grid, a beads-remaining count and color strip for the row you're on, and big Back / Row Done buttons sized for one-handed use.
  • Works with password-protected patterns exported from Base 1.4.6+ — you'll be prompted for the password when opening one.
  • Available free with every Krazy Stitcher edition, including Base — it's a read-only reader on top of an exported file, not a new editing capability, so it isn't tier-gated.

Note

  • Progress marked in Companion (rows done, current row) is saved only on the device/browser you're using it on and does not sync back to the main Krazy Stitcher app automatically — this is stated in the app itself so it's never a surprise. Live two-way sync between a phone and the desktop app is planned as a later enhancement once the underlying same-network connection it depends on exists.

Krazy Stitcher Pro & Studio

v3.5.71 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • The DMC → Delica converter now prints in full. Before, printing the converter printed only the part of the list showing in its scrolling box, about one page. Now a Print all button prints every DMC color (295) across as many pages as it needs, with the column headings on every page. Printing from the browser (Ctrl+P) while the converter is open prints the converter too: the whole list, or just the rows your search shows, and the printout says which. Only the converter prints, not the app behind it.
v3.5.70 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Archive wording now matches what Archive does. The Archive button’s tooltip, the first prompt and the Help text still said Archive removes your pattern as soon as it downloads. They now say that Archive downloads the .ksp package, asks you to check that it is in your Downloads folder, and removes the pattern only when you click OK (Cancel keeps it).
v3.5.69 October 15, 2026

New

  • Change stitch. A new Change stitch button next to Turn piece switches a loom pattern to square stitch, or a square stitch pattern to loom. The chart is laid out the same in both, so no bead moves; only the stitch type changes, and with it the thread length and time estimates. It asks first, and Undo puts it back. A loom pattern with fringe must have the fringe removed first, because square stitch has no fringe. Other stitches have no identical twin, so they are not offered.
v3.5.68 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Drawing no longer jumps across your chart. If you dragged the pointer off the chart while drawing or erasing and came back in somewhere else, a straight line was drawn between the two places. Now only the cells under the pointer change.
  • Letting go of the mouse button outside the chart now ends the stroke. Before, moving back over the chart could keep drawing with no button held.
  • Archive keeps your pattern until you confirm the file saved. Before, the pattern was removed from your browser as soon as the .ksp download started, so a download that failed lost it. Now you are asked to check that the file is in your Downloads folder, and the pattern stays if you say it is not. The download link also stays valid for a minute instead of being cancelled at once.
v3.5.67 October 15, 2026

New

  • Turn piece. A new Turn piece button next to Rotate turns the whole piece a quarter turn clockwise, the way you would turn the real beadwork on the table. Your bead holes turn with it (see Bead Shape), and a peyote piece becomes brick while a brick piece becomes peyote, including 2-drop and 3-drop. It works on loom, square, peyote and brick patterns, and Undo puts everything back. Rotate is unchanged: it still turns only the pattern.

Fixed

  • Duplicate keeps your Bead Shape. A copy made with Duplicate now keeps the pattern’s bead shape, and the offset of a turned peyote or brick piece. Before, the copy came back square.
  • Brand Swap copies keep the offset of a turned peyote or brick piece.
v3.5.66 October 13, 2026

New

  • Bead Shape. Draw every bead on your chart in the shape of your real beads instead of a square. Open it from Analyze → Bead Shape and choose Match my beads (for example 11/0 Miyuki Delica). The program picks which way the holes run for your stitch, or you can choose. Your design and bead counts do not change.
  • Custom bead shape. Type your own height to width, from 0.5 to 2.
  • Photo Import keeps the photo’s proportions when you have saved a bead shape for new patterns: it takes fewer rows for tall beads (or more for wide ones), and the preview is drawn in that shape.
  • The shape is used on screen and in PDF and printed charts, the print layout and B&W chart pages, PNG, Hi-Res PNG and SVG pictures, and the 3D preview.
  • Finished Size agrees with your chart. With a bead shape on, Finished Size counts each bead the way the chart draws it, and a note says so. Bead Shape changes can be undone with Undo or Ctrl+Z. The Brand Swap previews are drawn in your bead shape too.
  • Never forgotten: a Bead shape label appears at the bottom of the screen whenever a pattern is not square, a message tells you when a new pattern picks up a saved shape, and Reset to Square puts everything back in one click.
v3.5.65 October 13, 2026

Improved

  • Drawing keeps up on big patterns. The chart redraws about twice as fast, and drawing or erasing no longer queues up and then changes the grid all at once after you stop.

Fixed

  • A quick Draw or Erase stroke no longer leaves gaps between beads.
v3.5.64 October 13, 2026

New

  • Your license, in About. About now shows your edition and the last 4 characters of your license key, with a Copy key button — handy when you set up Krazy Stitcher on a new computer.
v3.5.63 October 13, 2026

Improved

  • Help now explains moving to a new computer. Open ? Help and look under Tips: make a Backup All file on the old computer, copy it over, and click Restore on the new one. Single .ksp or .ks patterns open with Import Pattern.
  • Help now says where .ksp files go (wherever your browser saves downloads, usually your Downloads folder).
  • Help now covers an out-of-date app. If the app looks old or shows no place to enter your license key, add ?v=2 to the end of the address (for example KrazyStitcherPro.html?v=2) and press Enter.

Fixed

  • Browsers that kept an older saved copy of the app now pick up this version on the next visit.
v3.5.62 October 11, 2026

Starter-pattern cards, symbol swatches and similar buttons respond to the keyboard, and Tab now stays inside an open window until you close it.
v3.5.61 October 11, 2026

New

  • Choose black symbols instead of white. Some stitchers find white symbols overpower the bead color. In the Symbols box (at the top of Bead Count) the new “Symbol color on color charts” setting offers three choices: black or white, whichever reads best (as before, and still the default); black, with gray on the very darkest beads so their symbol can still be read; or black only, where a black bead shows as a solid square. It applies to the screen, the color swatches, and color PDF, PNG and printed charts, and it is remembered on this computer. The black-and-white chart is unchanged.
v3.5.60 October 11, 2026

Improved

  • Edit the chart with the keyboard. Press Tab until the chart has focus, then use the arrow keys to move a blue cursor (Ctrl+arrow moves ten cells). Enter or Space acts at the cursor with the current tool: Draw, Erase, Fill and Pick work at once; Line, Rectangle and Select take two presses (start, then finish; Escape cancels); Text places your text; the 1 Cell tool opens its symbol picker. A hidden announcement reads out the column, row and bead under the cursor for screen readers.
  • Reader Mode, the Stitching Guide and the Row Tracker announce changes to screen readers as you move from row to row.
  • The bug-report window’s text box and drop area now get their intended styling (a typing slip in the style sheet had kept it from applying). Word Chart pages declare English as their language.
v3.5.59 October 10, 2026

We reply within ten business days.
v3.5.58 October 10, 2026

Improved

  • Tidier Print Layout and B&W Symbol Chart pages. Colors now print even when your browser would normally skip backgrounds, so the Print Layout keeps its colored cells. The heavier line after every tenth row and column now shows on these pages, matching the PDF. Every page footer reads “Page 2 of 5” so you can tell if one is missing, and the numbering stays correct when you put the legend on the same page as the first grid. The saved pages now declare their language for screen readers, and the heading and the Return button use a darker red that is easier to read.
v3.5.57 October 10, 2026

New

  • Change just one cell. Right-click any cell on the chart, or hold Alt and click it, or choose the new 1 Cell tool and click it.

The printed PDF is unchanged.
v3.5.56 October 10, 2026

New

  • Easy to read symbols. Each pattern can now use numbers, letters and keyboard symbols (1, A, @, g and so on) instead of small pictures, which many beaders find quicker to follow while stitching. Pick the style for a pattern with Symbols for this pattern in the Bead Count window, or in the small symbol window you open from a color’s symbol square.
A pattern with Easy to read symbols opened in an older version shows the Classic shapes instead.
v3.5.55 October 10, 2026

Fixed

  • Import Photo: changing Max Width now updates the preview. Before, the box could say 150 while the preview was still showing an earlier, smaller conversion. The preview now refreshes when you press Enter or click away from the box, and Import stays off until it has caught up so you never import an out-of-date preview.
v3.5.54 October 8, 2026

Improved

  • Import Photo: you can now type the number of colors in a box next to the Max Colors slider (2 to 256). The slider and the box move together, a number outside 2–256 is corrected when you leave the box, and the preview now refreshes when you let go of the slider or press Enter instead of re-running on every pause while you drag, so the slider no longer feels sluggish.
  • The dark theme now has this edition’s soft violet tint instead of plain blue-gray (same brightness and contrast as before).
v3.5.53 October 8, 2026

  • Easier to read: the “Krazy Stitcher” title, the Undo label, and the page footer now have stronger contrast against the background.
  • The long row of toolbar buttons is now five menus: File, Edit, Color, Analyze and Stitch. Each menu is split into labeled groups (File has Export, Import, Print, and Backup and share). New, Save, Undo, Redo, the Grid options and 3D Preview stay on the toolbar.
  • The menus work from the keyboard: Down Arrow opens a menu and moves through it, Home and End jump to the first and last item, and Esc closes it and puts you back on the menu button. Choosing an item closes the menu.
  • Every button is still there and does the same thing. Customize still hides and shows individual buttons, and a menu with nothing left to show disappears.
v3.5.51 October 8, 2026

Fixed

  • A red “B&W ON / Return” badge no longer shows on the toolbar when the black-and-white overlay is off.
  • Reduce Colors now gives you exactly the number of colors you ask for. Before, asking for 62 colors from a 64-color pattern could leave only about 42. The new default, “Merge Closest Colors,” combines the rarest, most alike colors first, and the preview tells you the real result before you click Apply.

Improved

  • Printed PDF charts: the thin grid lines are darker, so they are easier to see, while the bold line on every 10th row and column still stands out.
  • The editing screen now has a soft lavender color scheme, so Pro is easy to tell apart from Base and Studio.
  • Backup All now reminds you to use Restore to bring a backup file back, and the Restore button explains that a .ksbackup file is opened there, not by another program.
v3.5.50 October 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The Shift+R keyboard shortcut now selects the Filled Rect tool, as the guides say. Before, pressing Shift+R did nothing.
v3.5.49 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Undo button (and Ctrl+Z) now takes back symbol changes, including a swap with another color and choosing “Automatic.” Redo brings them back. A swap of two colors is one step.
v3.5.48 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Bead Count window now says “Click a symbol to choose a different one for that color,” so the symbol picker is easier to find.
  • The printable B&W Symbol Chart and the saved Print Layout page now use the same built-in symbol font as the app, so the symbols look right on any computer.
Pro 3.5.47 October 7, 2026

Pro 3.5.46 October 7, 2026

Pro 3.5.45 October 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The symbol shown on a color swatch (Colors “Used in Pattern” and the Bead Count table) now always matches the symbol drawn on the chart and printed in the PDF. On some patterns the swatch and the chart could show different symbols for the same color.
  • Very large patterns (250,000 beads or more) now draw the same symbols on screen as the printed chart.
Pro 3.5.44 October 7, 2026

Pro 3.5.43 October 6, 2026

Fixed

  • Print Layout and the Black & White chart page now open correctly (they could fail with an error).
Pro 3.5.42 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
Pro 3.5.41 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
Pro 3.5.40 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Remap Palette now also converts colors that appear only on extra layers, and keeps their bead names. Before, those colors could be left unconverted or lose their names.
Pro 3.5.39 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features: the app can now read and check a published bead-matching data set. Nothing you see changes.
Pro 3.5.38 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Duplicating a pattern now keeps any bead-brand information saved with it, and pattern files and backups with that information load safely. Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features; nothing else changes.
Pro 3.5.37 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the matching logic for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Pro 3.5.36 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared bead-grid resizing routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Pro 3.5.35 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared rating routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Pro 3.5.34 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: Palette Remap now uses a shared color-swapping routine that will also power future features. Remap itself should look and work exactly as before.
Pro 3.5.33 October 3, 2026

Pro 3.5.32 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: backups, restores, auto-snapshots, saving, and the About and Help version displays now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Pro 3.5.31 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: creating, duplicating, importing, restoring, archiving and exporting patterns now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Pro 3.5.30 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the pattern list, switching and deleting patterns, version snapshots, PDF export and pattern archiving now share one code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Pro 3.5.29 October 2, 2026

Pro 3.5.28 October 2, 2026

Fixed

  • After you send a bug report or feature request, the "thank you" confirmation now appears. It was missing before, even though the report itself was being sent.
Pro 3.5.27 October 2, 2026

Accessibility

  • The Starter Pattern Library's category tabs (All, Geometric, Nature, Holidays, Alphabet) now tell screen readers which one is selected, and the pattern grid is announced as that tab's panel.
Pro 3.5.26 September 30, 2026

Fixed

  • The Help panel's stitch list now includes Shaped Peyote and Ndebele, which were already available in the stitch-type menu.
Pro 3.5.25 September 30, 2026

Accessibility

  • The "Enter Full Screen" start screen can now be fully used from the keyboard: focus lands on the Enter Full Screen button automatically, Tab moves between it and Skip, Enter or Space activates the focused button, and Escape skips. After it closes, keyboard focus moves into the canvas area. Both buttons show a clear focus outline. Mouse behavior is unchanged.
Pro 3.5.24 September 29, 2026

New

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+B anywhere in the app to report a bug or request a feature — a quick form with an optional screenshot, sent straight to us.
Pro 3.5.23 September 28, 2026

Accessibility

  • The numbered preset-slot buttons and the bead-count table's "ID" sort button now have real, readable names for screen readers instead of just a bare digit or letters.
Pro 3.5.22 September 28, 2026

Internal

  • Behind-the-scenes cleanup only, nothing changes for you: 21 more functions that were duplicated identically between Pro and Studio now live in one shared place, continuing the ongoing effort to unify the codebase behind the scenes.
Pro 3.5.21 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Keyboard users could get stuck on the full-screen splash with no way past it. It's now focusable and dismissible with Enter or Space, and the "Skip" link is a real, keyboard-operable button.
  • License-required screen's "Buy Pro" / "Buy Studio" links were unreachable by keyboard. The focus trap now cycles through both Buy links along with the key field and Activate button.
  • Low-contrast green text. The green used for the "License activated" message, the Work Tracker widget, and elsewhere was too light to read reliably — darkened for clear, readable contrast (dark theme now uses its own lighter green instead of reusing light theme's).

Accessibility

  • WCAG 2.2 AA pass closing out this project's Tier S and Tier A accessibility audit findings.
Pro 3.5.20 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Pan tool would stop working after one drag. Clicking the Pan tool and dragging the canvas worked once, then silently switched back to whatever tool was active before — so the next drag did nothing and the view looked stuck. Panning now keeps working for as many drags as you like until you pick a different tool.
Pro 3.5.19 September 24, 2026

Fixed

  • Clear picture at 0% grid opacity. When Opacity is 0 or the grid is off, the pattern now shows as one clean image with no light lines between beads.

New

  • Opacity slider next to the Grid checkbox, so you can fade the grid from 100% down to 0%.
Pro 3.5.18 September 23, 2026

New

  • Buy links in the Bead Cost Estimator. Each color row in the Cost Estimator now has a Buy link. Click it to search for that exact bead color online, so you can shop for what you need without leaving the app.
Pro 3.5.17 September 23, 2026

Fixed

  • Row and column numbers on the canvas now show up on large patterns too. The "Numbers" toggle already worked on small and medium patterns; on very large ones (500×500 cells and up), which render differently for performance, the numbers just weren't there. They are now.
Pro 3.5.16 September 22, 2026

New Features

  • New Large Print / High Contrast mode. Turn it on with the new eye-icon button next to the text-size buttons in the toolbar. It makes text larger, turns on row and column numbers on the pattern grid, and makes the grid lines and current-row highlight easier to see. Your choice is remembered the next time you open Krazy Stitcher.
Pro 3.5.15 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • A couple more error messages now use clearer, more consistent wording -- restoring from a backup and loading a package file now show the same plain-language messages in Pro and Studio.
Pro 3.5.14 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • The first-run welcome tour now mentions up front that your work saves to this browser only -- not to any account or the cloud. Clearing your browser's data, or switching to a different browser or computer, can lose your patterns with no warning. Once you've made something you'd hate to lose, look for Backup All in the toolbar -- it saves a real file you keep yourself. (Base has always shown this note; it's now shown in Pro too.)
Pro 3.5.13 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • Clearer, more consistent messages when something goes wrong. A few error messages -- for a failed restore, archive, or pattern load, and the empty Bead Inventory panel -- now use the same clear wording as Studio, and the Bead Inventory panel's buttons are now labeled "Add Current Color" and "Add All Pattern Colors" to match.
Pro 3.5.12 September 22, 2026

Fixed

  • The Gradient tool, and searching the color palette, could stop working with an error once you'd painted at least one bead. A mix-up between the main color palette and the "used colors" panel meant that after painting any cell, opening the Gradient tool or typing in the palette search box could silently fail instead of working normally. Fixed -- both now work correctly no matter how much of your pattern is already painted.
Pro 3.5.11 September 21, 2026

Fixed

  • Grayscale Mode in the Import Photo panel did not always update the preview. After loading a photo, checking or unchecking Grayscale Mode could silently do nothing -- the preview stayed as it was until you changed some other setting. Fixed -- the Grayscale Mode checkbox now always updates the preview right away.
Pro 3.5.10 September 21, 2026

Fixed

  • The low-stock warning on your Bead Inventory could be slow to show up. Changing a color's low-stock threshold now updates the warning mark on the palette right away, instead of waiting for something else to refresh it.
  • Small refinement to the color-matching math used for photo conversion and nearest-color searches, bringing Pro in line with Studio's more precise calculation. Too small a difference to notice in normal use.
Pro 3.5.9 September 20, 2026

Fixed

  • Split & Recompose could render some tiles incorrectly. After splitting a pattern that uses an offset bead layout (peyote and its variants, gourd, spiral, netting, albion, or brick stitch), every tile except the top-left one could display with the wrong bead offset, and clicking on it could paint the wrong cell. Fixed -- split tiles now always line up correctly, regardless of position.
Pro 3.5.8 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Split & Recompose -- split a large pattern into a grid of smaller tiles to work on one at a time, then recombine them back into the full pattern when you're done. Previously Studio-only.
Pro 3.5.7 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Auto-Optimize Settings for photo-to-pattern conversion — one click analyzes your loaded photo and sets Max Colors and dithering for you, based on whether the image looks photographic or flat/graphic. You can still fine-tune the result by hand afterward.
Pro v3.5.6 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Pattern password protection — the Share dialog now has a “Protect the pattern data with a password” checkbox. When set, the exported file’s pattern data is encrypted so it can’t be reopened and edited without the password, while the included preview image and PDF/chart stay viewable and printable as before. Opening a password-protected file prompts for the password, with a plain retry message if it’s wrong.
Pro v3.5.5 September 19, 2026

Fixes

  • Reader/Companion Mode: fixed keyboard Tab moving focus out of the Reader Mode screen instead of staying inside it.
  • Reader/Companion Mode: closing it no longer leaves the Row Work Tracker switched on if it wasn’t on before you opened Reader Mode.
Pro v3.6.0 September 18, 2026

New Features

  • Reader/Companion Mode — A distraction-free, large-text, full-screen view of your current row and its beads, for propping a tablet up at the bead tray instead of editing at a desk. Open it from the new “Reader Mode” toolbar button; use the on-screen arrows or your keyboard’s Left/Right arrows to move between rows, and Escape (or the Close button) to return to editing.
Pro v3.5.4 September 19, 2026

Fixes

  • PDF pattern export now embeds the real stitch-symbol font, so exported PDFs show the actual stitch symbols in the color legend instead of a stand-in character.
  • Fixed a text-wraparound issue with long color names in the PDF legend.
v3.6.70 October 15, 2026

Only the converter prints, not the app behind it.
v3.6.69 October 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Archive wording now matches what Archive does. The Archive button’s tooltip, the first prompt and the Help text still said Archive removes your pattern as soon as it downloads. They now say that Archive downloads the .ksp package, asks you to check that it is in your Downloads folder, and removes the pattern only when you click OK (Cancel keeps it).
v3.6.68 October 15, 2026

Other stitches have no identical twin, so they are not offered.
v3.6.67 October 15, 2026

  • Layers now work with Undo and the whole-pattern tools. Before, Undo, Redo, Mirror, Flip, Rotate, Insert or Remove Row or Column, and Delete selection only changed what you saw, and your next brush stroke brought the old cells back or scrambled the chart. Now every layer follows these tools, so separate layers stay separate, and Undo and Redo bring back each layer as it was.
  • Importing a CSV or text grid is safer. Very large files, or grids wider or taller than 2,000 beads, are refused with a message instead of freezing the page, and imported pattern names are cleaned.
v3.6.66 October 15, 2026

  • Brand Swap copies keep the offset of a turned peyote or brick piece.
v3.6.65 October 13, 2026

  • Never forgotten: a Bead shape label appears at the bottom of the screen whenever a pattern is not square, a message tells you when a new pattern picks up a saved shape, and Reset to Square puts everything back in one click.
v3.6.64 October 13, 2026

Improved

  • Drawing keeps up on big patterns. The chart redraws about twice as fast, and drawing or erasing no longer queues up and then changes the grid all at once after you stop.

Fixed

  • A quick Draw or Erase stroke no longer leaves gaps between beads.
v3.6.63 October 13, 2026

New

  • Your license, in About. About now shows your edition and the last 4 characters of your license key, with a Copy key button — handy when you set up Krazy Stitcher on a new computer.
v3.6.62 October 13, 2026

If the app looks old or shows no place to enter your license key, add ?v=2 to the end of the address (for example KrazyStitcherStudio.html?v=2) and press Enter.

Fixed

  • Browsers that kept an older saved copy of the app now pick up this version on the next visit.
v3.6.61 October 11, 2026

Starter-pattern cards, symbol swatches and similar buttons respond to the keyboard, and Tab now stays inside an open window until you close it.
v3.6.60 October 11, 2026

The black-and-white chart is unchanged.
v3.6.59 October 11, 2026

  • Reader Mode, the Stitching Guide and the Row Tracker announce changes to screen readers as you move from row to row.
  • The bug-report window’s text box and drop area now get their intended styling (a typing slip in the style sheet had kept it from applying). Word Chart pages declare English as their language.
v3.6.58 October 10, 2026

We reply within ten business days.
v3.6.57 October 10, 2026

The saved pages now declare their language for screen readers, and the heading and the Return button use a darker red that is easier to read.
v3.6.56 October 10, 2026

New

  • Change just one cell. Right-click any cell on the chart, or hold Alt and click it, or choose the new 1 Cell tool and click it.

The printed PDF is unchanged.
v3.6.55 October 10, 2026

Fixed

  • The Studio manual no longer says Undo does not take back a symbol change. It does.
v3.6.54 October 10, 2026

Fixed

  • Import Photo: changing Max Width now updates the preview. Before, the box could say 150 while the preview was still showing an earlier, smaller conversion. The preview now refreshes when you press Enter or click away from the box, and Import stays off until it has caught up so you never import an out-of-date preview.
v3.6.53 October 8, 2026

  • The dark theme now has this edition’s soft warm apricot-brown tint instead of plain blue-gray (same brightness and contrast as before).
v3.6.52 October 8, 2026

Customize still hides and shows individual buttons, and a menu with nothing left to show disappears.
v3.6.50 October 8, 2026

  • Each edition now has its own soft color scheme on the editing screen: mint for Base, lavender for Pro, apricot for Studio.
  • Backup All now reminds you to use Restore to bring a backup file back, and the Restore button explains that a .ksbackup file is opened there, not by another program.
v3.6.49 October 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The Shift+R keyboard shortcut now selects the Filled Rect tool, as the guides say. Before, pressing Shift+R did nothing.
v3.6.48 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Undo button (and Ctrl+Z) now takes back symbol changes, including a swap with another color and choosing “Automatic.” Redo brings them back. A swap of two colors is one step.
v3.6.47 October 7, 2026

Improved

  • The Bead Count window now says “Click a symbol to choose a different one for that color,” so the symbol picker is easier to find.
  • The printable B&W Symbol Chart and the saved Print Layout page now use the same built-in symbol font as the app, so the symbols look right on any computer.
Studio 3.6.46 October 7, 2026

Studio 3.6.45 October 7, 2026

Studio 3.6.44 October 7, 2026

Studio 3.6.43 October 7, 2026

Studio 3.6.42 October 6, 2026

Fixed

  • Print Layout and the Black & White chart page now open correctly (they could fail with an error).
Studio 3.6.41 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
Studio 3.6.40 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for a future bead-brand feature. Nothing you see changes.
Studio 3.6.39 October 5, 2026

Improved

  • Remap Palette now also converts colors that appear only on extra layers, and keeps their bead names. Before, those colors could be left unconverted or lose their names.
Studio 3.6.38 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features: the app can now read and check a published bead-matching data set. Nothing you see changes.
Studio 3.6.37 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Duplicating a pattern now keeps any bead-brand information saved with it, and pattern files and backups with that information load safely. Behind-the-scenes preparation for future bead-brand features; nothing else changes.
Studio 3.6.36 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the matching logic for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Studio 3.6.35 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared bead-grid resizing routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Studio 3.6.34 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: a shared rating routine for future bead-brand features is now in place. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works today.
Studio 3.6.33 October 4, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: Palette Remap now uses a shared color-swapping routine that will also power future features. Remap itself should look and work exactly as before.
Studio 3.6.32 October 3, 2026

Studio 3.6.31 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: backups, restores, auto-snapshots, saving, and the About and Help version displays now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Studio 3.6.30 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • More behind-the-scenes housekeeping: creating, duplicating, importing, restoring, archiving and exporting patterns now run on one shared code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Studio 3.6.29 October 2, 2026

Improved

  • Behind-the-scenes housekeeping: the pattern list, switching and deleting patterns, version snapshots, PDF export and pattern archiving now share one code path across the editions. Nothing should look or behave differently.
Studio 3.6.28 October 2, 2026

Studio 3.6.27 October 2, 2026

Fixed

  • After you send a bug report or feature request, the "thank you" confirmation now appears. It was missing before, even though the report itself was being sent.
Studio 3.6.26 September 30, 2026

Fixed

  • The Help panel's stitch list now includes Shaped Peyote and Ndebele, which were already available in the stitch-type menu.
Studio 3.6.25 September 30, 2026

Accessibility

  • The "Enter Full Screen" start screen can now be fully used from the keyboard: focus lands on the Enter Full Screen button automatically, Tab moves between it and Skip, Enter or Space activates the focused button, and Escape skips. After it closes, keyboard focus moves into the canvas area. Both buttons show a clear focus outline. Mouse behavior is unchanged.
Studio 3.6.24 September 29, 2026

New

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+B anywhere in the app to report a bug or request a feature — a quick form with an optional screenshot, sent straight to us.
Studio 3.6.23 September 28, 2026

Accessibility

  • The numbered preset-slot buttons and the bead-count table's "ID" and "%" sort buttons now have real, readable names for screen readers instead of just a bare digit or symbol.
Studio 3.6.22 September 28, 2026

Internal

  • Behind-the-scenes cleanup only, nothing changes for you: 21 more functions that were duplicated identically between Pro and Studio now live in one shared place, continuing the ongoing effort to unify the codebase behind the scenes.
Studio 3.6.21 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Keyboard users could get stuck on the full-screen splash with no way past it. It's now focusable and dismissible with Enter or Space, and the "Skip" link is a real, keyboard-operable button.
  • License-required screen's "Buy Studio" link was unreachable by keyboard. The focus trap now cycles through the Buy link along with the key field and Activate button.
  • Low-contrast green text. The green used for the "License activated" message, the Work Tracker widget, and elsewhere was too light to read reliably — darkened for clear, readable contrast (dark theme now uses its own lighter green instead of reusing light theme's).
  • Template and Starter Pattern tabs now announce which one is selected to screen readers. The category tabs in both the stamp-template and starter-pattern libraries previously only showed the active tab visually; they now expose selected state via ARIA, and each tab's content is properly associated with it.

Accessibility

  • WCAG 2.2 AA pass closing out this project's Tier S and Tier A accessibility audit findings.
Studio 3.6.20 September 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Pan tool would stop working after one drag. Clicking the Pan tool and dragging the canvas worked once, then silently switched back to whatever tool was active before — so the next drag did nothing and the view looked stuck. Panning now keeps working for as many drags as you like until you pick a different tool.
Studio 3.6.19 September 24, 2026

Fixed

  • Clear picture at 0% grid opacity. When Opacity is 0 or the grid is off, the pattern now shows as one clean image with no light lines between beads.

New

  • Opacity slider next to the Grid checkbox, so you can fade the grid from 100% down to 0%.
Studio 3.6.18 September 23, 2026

New

  • Buy links in the Bead Cost Estimator. Each color row in the Cost Estimator now has a Buy link. Click it to search for that exact bead color online, so you can shop for what you need without leaving the app.
Studio 3.6.17 September 23, 2026

Fixed

  • Row and column numbers on the canvas now show up on large patterns too. The "Numbers" toggle already worked on small and medium patterns; on very large ones (500×500 cells and up), which render differently for performance, the numbers just weren't there. They are now.
Studio 3.6.16 September 22, 2026

New Features

  • New Large Print / High Contrast mode. Turn it on with the new eye-icon button next to the text-size buttons in the toolbar. It makes text larger, turns on row and column numbers on the pattern grid, and makes the grid lines and current-row highlight easier to see. Your choice is remembered the next time you open Krazy Stitcher.
Studio 3.6.15 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • The "Archive" error message now uses the same clear wording as Pro.
Studio 3.6.14 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • A couple more error messages now use clearer, more consistent wording -- restoring from a backup and loading a package file now show the same plain-language messages in Pro and Studio.
Studio 3.6.13 September 22, 2026

(Base has always shown this note; it's now shown in Studio too.)
Studio 3.6.12 September 22, 2026

Improved

  • Clearer, more consistent messages when something goes wrong. A few error messages -- for a failed restore and a failed pattern load -- now use clearer wording, consistent with Base and Pro.
Studio 3.6.11 September 22, 2026

Studio 3.6.10 September 21, 2026

Fixed

  • Bead colors added to your inventory before quantity tracking was introduced (in 3.6.9) could show blank amounts. Older inventory entries now get sensible starting values automatically.
Studio v3.6.9 September 21, 2026

Improved

  • Bead Inventory now tracks how much of each color you have. Add a quantity and a low-stock alert level for each bead color you own, and the palette shows a red warning mark when you're running low — not just whether you own a color at all. You can also add a bead to your inventory by hand (hex code, ID, and name) without needing it in a pattern first.

Fixed

  • Colors added to a pattern through Import Photo were missing their catalog ID in places that show it (the color legend, PDF exports, and similar). Fixed.
  • Opening the Import Photo dialog no longer loses your place if you were navigating by keyboard.
Studio v3.6.8 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Auto-Optimize Settings — a new button in the Import Photo dialog that looks at your photo and picks a starting Max Colors and dithering setting for you: photographic images get smoothed with dithering, flat graphics/logos get a clean color-block look with none. Everything it sets is still a normal control afterward, so you can fine-tune from there.
Studio v3.6.7 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Batch Photo Import — convert several photos into separate patterns in one pass instead of importing one at a time. Uses the same photo-conversion settings (dithering, color count, bead palette) as the regular Import Photo dialog, so a batch produces the same results as converting each photo individually. Handy for turning a folder of product photos into ready-to-stitch patterns for a shop.
Studio v3.6.6 September 19, 2026

New Features

  • Pattern password protection — the same Share-dialog password protection described above for Pro, now available in Studio.
Studio v3.6.5 September 19, 2026

Fixes

  • The same Reader/Companion Mode focus and Work Tracker fixes described above for Pro.
Studio v3.7.0 September 18, 2026

New Features

  • Reader/Companion Mode — the same distraction-free, large-text row view described above for Pro, now available in Studio.
Studio v3.6.4 September 19, 2026

Fixes

  • The same PDF stitch-symbol font embedding and legend text-wraparound fixes described above for Pro.

Krazy Stitcher — Photo-to-Pattern Converter

v2.2 September 23, 2026

Changed

  • Free tier removed — Photo Converter is a paid Pro/Studio add-on and was never covered by Krazy Stitcher Base's 60-day trial; the free tier now grants zero capability (no brands, no tools, no PNG export) rather than a usable reduced mode.
  • Mandatory license gate — a non-dismissable modal now blocks the entire tool (matching Base's own trial/license gate) until a valid Pro or Studio key is entered. "Buy a License" and "Enter License Key" actions offered.

Fixed

  • Two production-breaking syntax errors that together left the tool 100% non-functional in every browser (zero JS executing): an illegal -x**2 unary/exponentiation combination in the ciede2000() color-distance function, and a missing closing brace in the embedded QR-code library's mapData method.
v2.1 August 21, 2026

New Features

  • 3-Tier Licensing System — Free / Pro ($34.95) / Studio ($59.95) with feature gating. License keys stored locally and validated on load. Dev unlock key for testing.
  • Cross-Brand Color Reference (5 pairs, 969 mappings) — DMC↔Delica (269+124), TOHO↔Miyuki (256+366), Perler↔Hama (57+53), Mill Hill→Miyuki (50), Artkal↔Perler (104+83). Quality color-coded in recipe: green for excellent, amber for good.
  • WCAG AA Compliance — Full accessibility audit and fixes: keyboard-accessible stitch selectors and upload area, skip-navigation link, ARIA tablist on step nav, canvas accessible names, focus-visible styles, type="button" on all 46 buttons.

New Pages

  • Photo Converter Announcement — Product announcement page with 6-card feature grid, 9-brand tags, Free vs Pro comparison, and CTA.
  • Bead Suppliers & Resources — Official manufacturer and Amazon affiliate links for all 9 brands.

All with CIE LAB values for perceptually accurate color matching.
  • Brand Selector with Categories — <optgroup> sections for "Seed Beads" and "Fuse Beads" with color counts per brand.
  • Paint Bucket / Fill (F) — Flood-fill contiguous same-color regions using active color.
  • Global Replace (R) — Click any bead to replace all beads of that color with the active color.
  • Confetti Cleanup — One-click auto-removal of isolated single beads surrounded by different colors. Uses 4-neighbor check, replaces with most common neighbor. Single-pass on snapshot to prevent cascade effects.
  • Image Adjustment Sliders — Brightness, contrast, and saturation controls (-100 to +100) applied before LAB conversion and quantization. Reset All button to restore defaults.
  • DMC↔Delica Cross-Reference — 269 DMC→Delica and 124 Delica→DMC mappings. Excellent and good quality only. Appears in both on-screen recipe and PDF export.
  • Toast Notifications — Visual feedback for replace count and confetti cleanup results.

Technical

  • BRAND_DATABASES object holds all 9 brand arrays in compact {i, n, h, l} format
