We give these charts away because they are not yet as complete or as accurate as the charts we sell. Each chart prints the same note at the top.

Colors come from retailer photos, not from measuring real beads. Our own bead photos show that photo-based colors can be noticeably off.
Our Matsuno and Mill Hill color lists are incomplete (126 Matsuno and 115 Mill Hill colors). Many beads have no close match, and the chart says so instead of guessing. The count for each chart is shown below.
Every match uses real catalog numbers and a published color-difference method (CIEDE2000) that takes the bead finish into account.

Check a match against real beads before you buy in quantity. Screen and print colors vary.

How to Read a Chart

Good: Visible side by side, but usually acceptable.
Fair: Clearly different side by side, but works as a substitute.
Poor: Noticeably different. When nothing is close, the row says “No close match” and shows the nearest three.
Close to: The colors were estimated from supplier photos.

Each row offers up to three beads, best first. A bead with a different finish is labeled and never rated better than Fair.

Our paid charts go into Miyuki Delica, Toho Round, Preciosa and Miyuki Rocailles, where our color lists are complete: 84 to 99 percent of colors find a usable match. They are built the same way and carry the same honest ratings. Each chart is a printable PDF for $9.95.
